The following two projects helped me become comfortable in a leadership role and make use of my legal writing skills. While editing and revising, I continuously used the paramedic writing method throughout the process. This type of writing and editing style was a nice refresher similar to legal writing that I have been learning during my time at the U of A. This assignment helped me tap into my “legal writing zone” where I was able to brush up and add onto my report with ease.

I eliminated unnecessary words and made it as simple as possible for the audience to read and understand. I also made sentences shorter, more clear and concise. I have practiced legal writing the past three years which helped make this process a lot easier. Using the paramedic method on our report improved our document because sentences were made with precision. The audience does not want to read long winded texts or any information that may be unnecessary. Clarity in technical writing is crucial because you want the audience to easily digest the information.
